David Black made honorary life member of OBA
TBA Past-President David Black was recognized by the Ontario Baseball Association as an honorary life member at its annual meeting in November. He joins TBA Secretary-Treasurer Howie Birnie as one of the few life members of the OBA.
Black (seen above wth OBA Vice-President Ray Merkley), was also recognized for being a member of the OBA for 20 years, beginning before he became president of the TBA 15 years ago after serving as president of West Hill Baseball Association. During that time, Black was also president of the Select Ontario Baseball Association and shepherded its merger with OBA to become the Select Division, for which he won a special award from then-president David Huctwith. He served as Select Commissioner until this past November when he was succeeded by Huctwith at the 2023 AGM.
Black also stepped down as president of TBA in November and is succeeded by Steve Watson. He remains on the OBA Executive board as a past-commisoner and on the TBA Executive Committee as past-president and convener of the TBA’s Select East Loop.
